SUSSEX — Holy Cross junior Alanna Hitscherich of Sussex Borough has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League as voted on by sports information directors throughout the league.
An Economics major, she holds a 3.76 grade point average and has been instrumental in leading the Crusaders in jumps and hurdles this year. A two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and veteran leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy, she took second place in the long jump at the 2017 Patriot League Indoor championship with a Holy Cross record-setting mark of 5.84 meters. She earned second-team all-Patriot League honors for her finish.
Hitscherich also earned points for Holy Cross at the Patriot League Indoor Championship while placing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 8.91 and sixth in the triple jump with her career and season-best distance of 11.62 meters as the Crusaders took sixth-place overall.
Hitscherich most recently picked up All-New England accolades at the New England Indoor championships for three top-eight finishes in her events. She took sixth in the triple jump with her mark of 11.65 meters, eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with her career and season-best time of 8.85 and landed in fifth place in the long jump after clearing a distance of 5.57 meters.
