Bow-Wow Biscuits is a dog biscuit business run by the students in the Pre-DILS (developing independent life skills) program.
The students are involved in the entire process using vocational and daily living skills. Available to district staff twice per school year, before the winter and spring breaks,
Bow Wow Biscuits offers two different flavors, original and peanut butter, as well as a gift basket. The marketing part of the business involves creating, printing and distributing brochures to customers in the school district. The students shop for the ingredients during community-based instruction and prepare the homemade treats with the use of a variety of picture and verbal prompts.
During the delivery process, students must interpret order forms, count profits and deliver the biscuits to their customers.
Bow-Wow Biscuits has been deliciously successful in meeting many of the students’ educational goals and has gained much support from the customers in the Vernon School District.
