The Newton Theatre is presenting two new movies this early Spring.
Tickets for each movie are only $7 and are on sale now.
The Sense of an Ending is scheduled for Monday, April 10, and Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. The movie is based on the Man Booker-winning novel by Julian Barnes, and directed by The Lunchbox's Ritesh Batra. Tony Webster (Jim Broadbent) leads a reclusive and quiet existence until long buried secrets from his past force him to face the flawed recollections of his younger self, the truth about his first love (Charlotte Rampling) and the devastating consequences of decisions made a lifetime ago.
A hauntingly mysterious ghost story/thriller, Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart, will be shown on Monday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. Maureen (Stewart), who sees herself as a medium, hopes to contact the spirit of her recently deceased twin brother, Lewis, with whom she shared everything, including the heart defect that took his life. Lewis had promised that if he passed away first, he would try to send a message from beyond the grave. As Maureen pursues her mission to make contact, she works at her day job as an assistant to a world-famous movie star. Maureen is not particularly thrilled with this career path, however, her two worlds begin to collide as she begins receiving a series of mysterious text messages from someone who seems to know everything about her.
She thinks they may be coming from her brother, but could it be another, darker spirit or the even-more-frightening possibility that the messages are coming from a flesh-and-blood stalker who is leading an already-distracted Maureen into real and immediate danger?
