Each year during the month of March Catholic Families and Community Services joins hands with the community to recognize “March for Meals”. This is a nationwide awareness campaign to ensure that no senior goes hungry. The senior population is the fastest growing population in our County. Catholic Charities of Sussex County delivers hundreds of meals each year to help in this effort.
Celebrating with us this year was State Senator Steve Oroho; Mike Dellivers, a representative from Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s office; County Freeholder Sylvia Petillo; Franklin Administrator, Alison McHose; Township Mayors from Hopatcong, Vernon, Sparta, Sussex and Wantage; along with several of our Meals on Wheels volunteers, associates and leadership from Catholic Charities giving testimony to their experiences while visiting with our senior clients.
We also gratefully acknowledge the donations we received to our program from The German Christmas Market Association, Superior Landscaping, Dawn Morongel family, Laura Mulcahy family, William Sharkey family, Dianne Rittweger family, Shop Rite of Franklin, Weiss Markets of Franklin, Holland American Bakery of Sussex and Bagel Tree of Franklin.
We also send a big thanks to the staff of the Newton Medical Center who prepare the delicious hot meals every day for our clients. Lastly, we also acknowledge and thank the students of the Franklin Elementary School who talentedly crafted placemats for all of our seniors to enjoy. They helped to spread cheerfulness and put a smile on the faces of our senior clients.
Thank you to all, our celebration event was a huge success.
