| 19 Apr 2017 | 01:06

The Sussex County Aquatic Safety Coalition will conduct its 5th annual symposium on Sunday, April 30, at the Sussex County YMCA.
The seminar will be from 2-4 p.m.
    This program is free.
The Sussex County Aquatic Safety Coalition was formed to assist Waterfront Directors, Pool Managers, Lifeguard Supervisors, Beach Officers and Lake Committees as well as any other aquatic facility to address common issues regarding aquatics. In the past, the Coalition has addressed issues with the N.J. State Bathing Code, water safety initiatives, lifeguard training, retention and competitions, risk management, safer beaches, lake water quality, open water swim events and more effective rescue techniques for lifeguard staff.
This year’s main topic is “Reducing Liability through Preventive Actions.” Other topics to be included will be Introduction to the new American Red Cross Lifeguard program, Risk Management vs. Budget, and highlights from the National Drowning Prevention Conference. Training opportunities, shared services and group equipment purchase will also be presented.
The main value of the Coalition is the networking, resources and support offered by many of the members and attendees.
Attendance is free, however, registration is requested in order to provide for materials and space. For registration, contact Sarah Navarro at the Sussex County YMCA, snavarro@metroymcas.org or 973-209-9622, Ext. 210.
