Winston 'Win Michaels' Dopson

Winston “Win Michaels” Dopson, age 73, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Morristown Medical Center.
Born in Orange, Texas, he was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to Sussex County in 1976. He had served in the United States Navy during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Mr. Dopson was a self-employed musician and was known as “Win Michaels” to his fans. Throughout his 50 year career, he played the tri-state area as well as Florida, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Martin, and Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie (Bauk) Dopson; his two sons, Brian Dopson of Wantage and Jeffrey Dopson and his wife D’Angelique of Rockaway; his two brothers, Roger Dopson and his wife Judy and Dean Dopson and his wife Karen all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and four grandchildren; Heather, Amy Christine, Genevieve, and Cordelia. Friends may pay their respects to the family from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017m for a celebration of life gathering at the Sussex Fire Department, 25 Loomis Avenue, Sussex, NJ 07461.
