VERNON — Once again the Taste of Vernon celebrates, Monday, May 1, the sweet and savory at Heaven Hill Farm, from 6-9 p.m.
As part of the community celebration, many of the area's finest purveyors will feature fresh culinary samples.
Roman Czerhoniak of Dairy Swirl – the originator of the initial Taste of Vernon idea — will bring his most exotic and popular ice cream flavors: Grand Central Station, with graham cracker ice cream, variegated graham cracker, and chocolate covered graham crackers throughout; his newest created flavor: Salty Caramel, with caramel ice cream, caramel weaved through out, along with chocolate covered pretzels; and of course, the most popular: vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
The Candy Apple Shoppe will serve quite a selection of their 40 varieties of gourmet caramel apples, including: Rocky Road Caramel Apples, Peanut Butter Cup Apples, English Toffee Apples, and Snickers Apples, in order for everyone to have the opportunity to try some of their many flavors.
The George Inn will bring barbecue ribs, Greek pasta, and rice pudding. Employee Tracy said their Greek pasta is her number one favorite, which she would eat every night if she could. She also loves only the George Inn rice pudding.
Smokey's Brick Oven Tavern will serve surf and turf sliders — short rib and crab cake — and chicken guacamole sliders – with cilantro.
Drunken Cherry Cookie Company will bring delicious cookie samples and a homemade soup.
Milano's Italian Restaurant will serve tortellini ala pana, eggplant rollatini, and chicken scarpariello.
Gencarelli's Pizza Restaurant will bring their own fresh homemade cheesecake and a shrimp appetizer.
Healthy Thymes Market will serve a Vegan Broccoli Alfredo, Vegetarian Eggplant Meatballs, West African Peanut Stew, Vegan Apple Cake, Flour-less Chocolate Chick Pea Cake, Mini Energy Bites, Dani's Un-Chicken Salad, and Lemon Miso Quinoa Salad.
Top of the Mountain Honey Farm will bring local honey, bee pollen, and a few of their many flavored, infused honey selections, including: peach, orange, raspberry, cinnamon, mixed berry, blueberry, and lemon, plus, light and dark wild flower honey.
Heaven Hill Farm will not only provide the relaxing backdrop of the evening, but also wine tasting from Balic Winery of Mays Landing, N.J. Wines to be enjoyed include: fruit based wines, like mango, pomegranate, raspberry, and blueberry; three different varieties of dry reds, and one dry white wine.
Tomato Garden Pizza Restaurant, The Lamp Post Inn, Blissful Bites Cupcakes, and Rose Mountain Chocolatier will also participate.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Vernon Coalition.
