ZDC dance troupe succeeds at competition

VERNON — Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended Groove Dance Competition in Chester.
At this competition ZDC dancers were awarded over 35 divisional overalls and judge’s special awards as well as 30 first-place category awards. To highlight a few results from the weekend, In the competitive divisions mini soloist Brooklynn Sybesma, Vernon, performed her jazz “Friend Like Me” and won high gold first overall soloist for her division. Petite Soloist Kyleigh Doyle, Vernon, performed her lyrical “Take To the Sky” and won platinum 1st overall soloist for her division.  Senior Soloist Adriana Purcell, Hardyston, performed her musical theatre “The Audition” and won platinum 1st overall soloist for her division.  Reese Decker, Hamburg, was awarded a full scholarship to Groove Convention. 
In the intermediate division mini ballet small group “Music Box” won high gold, 1st in their category and 1st Overall in their division. “Celebrate” hip hop junior large group won high gold, 1st in their category and 1st Overall in their division. Junior advance small group jazz “Albatroz” won platinum, first in their category and 1st overall in their division. “Albatroz” continued on to win the highest scoring group jazz dance of all age divisions. They were nominated for The Industry Dance Awards (IDA) and Cancer Benefit Show.
Which is a multiple competition event that recognizes excellence in the dance industry while raising money to donate to multiple cancer focused charities. ZDC was awarded Outstanding Choreography out of studios attending the competition. The following dancers were chosen to be a part of the “G Team” an exclusive dance team at Groove National events: Kaya Gorski, Rianna Ziegler, Sydney Hill, Cynthia Huhn, Mackenzie Skouankis, Makayla Snyder, Sydney Bosma, Alexa Perrotta, Adriana Purcell, Brooklyn Sybesma and Kyleigh Doyle.  
Finally dancers were selected and won a scholarship to Hollywood Summer Tour, which consists of workshops from the top choreographers/teacher in Los Angles.  Dancers chosen: Alondra Sybesma, Sydney Bosma, Ava Berner, Natalia Arroyo, Kayla Wallace, Madison Gary and Kaya Gorski.
