Joseph Calvin Osborne

Joseph Calvin Osborne of Franklin died after a short illness at his residence on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was 85.
Born to John C. and Marion E. Osborne in Newburgh, N.Y., he had lived in several places including Clearwater, Florida and Port Leydon, N.Y. before moving to Franklin in 2015.
Joseph served with the United States Navy during the Korean War and then worked as a grinder for Bayer Corp. in Haledon for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Lowville, N.Y. American Legion and enjoyed playing guitar, country music, old movies, NASCAR and cherished his World War II memorabilia.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife, Joan Marie Osborne, in 2015 and is the devoted father of Thomas A. Osborne and his wife, Vashta, of Glenfield, N.Y., John C. Osborne and his wife, Franceen, of West Milford, Michael J. Osborne and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin, David J. Osborne and his wife, Jolanta, of Colts Neck, Nancy Lynn Widrick and her husband, Rickey, of Glenfield, N.Y., and Tracey Ann Bucher of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was cherished by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and was the dear brother of Richard Osborne of Wanaque and Jane Preputin of Wanaque.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 246 Woodport Road, Sparta.
