Center for Prevention names new council members

NEWTON — The Center for Prevention & Counseling is proud to announce the appointment of Glen Vetrano and Robert Griner to the agency’s Board of Directors. Both Glen and Robert are excellent additions to The Center’s already dynamic Board and were recently welcomed by the current Board of Directors and agency staff to their new positions.
Glen Vetrano has proven to be a well-established change maker in communities where he has served. As the retired Chief of Paterson Fire Department’s 3rd battalion, he has over 24 years of experience in Public Safety and has also held positions in several public offices including Freeholder and Director of the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders (2000- 2009). Glen is a past member of N.J. Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council and his history of elected and volunteer public service provide him with a valuable overarching perspective regarding public policy, management and fiscal responsibility. Currently Glen is a Charter member of Sparta UNICO, Board Member for Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Sussex County 200 Club Trustee and also manages a small standard horse breeding farm.
Robert Griner, priest at Christ Episcopal Church has served the Sussex County Community for over 30 years. He is vested in many local families and communities where his work often takes him outside church walls. Robert is passionate and committed to helping youth excel, explore and realize their goals and dreams. He embraces, understands and is inspired by the transformation he witnesses in the lives of those who are recovering from substance use disorder. He has organized and led individuals in recovery to Central America, helping to give back in different communities, including isolated and poor tribes. Robert has served four churches in New Jersey from the inner city of Plainfield to the wealthy suburb of Rumson. He was a first responder in NYC at Ground Zero and served as a FEMA Crisis Counselor for the City of Hoboken in the wake of 911. Robert received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Drew University and went on to study theology at Oxford University, completing his Masters of Divinity at Yale University.
The mission of the Center for Prevention and Counseling is to promote health, hope and recovery among all people by fostering a community in which individuals and families thrive. Over the past 44 years, this active and vibrant nonprofit agency has served Sussex County with quality programs and services that change lives. The Board and its staff work with and in the community to help youth gain the skills they need to make wise choices, to help parents create strong families, to support those in recovery from substance use disorder and to help build communities that support healthy lifestyles.
