Wantage elementary gives back

A yellow school bus arrives at the Sussex ACME; students and their teachers exit the bus and begin to shop for pasta, peanut butter, fruit juice, and other items on their shopping list. They load bags of food on the bus, and travel back to the Wantage School. What is happening at the Wantage School?
Wantage School teachers and students are giving back to their community.
Each week during the school year, teachers donate a dollar for the privilege of wearing jeans to school on Friday. The students collect the money, and with a list of “needed items” for the Sussex Help Center, head to the store to shop. Sometimes, they buy 30 packages of rolls and lots of bottles of juice! Upon returning to school, the students sort and assemble their purchases for the volunteers who transport the items to the Sussex Help Center.
So, what is happening at the Wantage School? The students are learning everyday life skills; shopping, math and helping others. And they are learning to give back to their community.
