Dads shine on Father's Day

According to History.com, there are roughly 70 million fathers in the United States.
Area shops catered to fathers by advertising the best Father’s Day gift deals. Restaurants promoted delectable brunches and dinners that would have every dad’s mouth water. Dad grill masters fed partiers at backyard barbeques.
the Yankees and the Mets and all MLB teams honored dads with special heather blue baseball caps and made it a point to stress Prostate cancer exams to always keep dad in the game. The Sussex County Miners team made fathers feel special by offering Kids Go Free Sunday and a home run derby after the game where willing dads could prove themselves. Dad was truly “the man” on June 18th.
Father’s Day was first celebrated in 1910 in the state of Washington. However, the rest of the country lagged in their celebration for Pop until President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation, making Mother’s Day an official holiday in 1914 setting the formation for honoring dads as well. It took years for Father’s Day to achieve official holiday status, approximately 1972 when President Richard Nixon gave Father’s Day the official OK. Worldwide, many countries deviate from the traditional June date. Australia honors dads in September while Bolivia, Croatia, Honduras, Spain, Italy and some others choose March 19 to honor fathers. Nordic and Scandinavian countries favor June 5 as their dates to remember dad. Whenever the appropriate date, fathers get a yearly high five and much love from their children.
