Westys Gymnastics hosted its 4th annual Powerteam invitational meet on Sunday, June 4, at the Sparta Field House in Sparta.
Powerteam is a USAG group gymnastics program where gymnasts perform together rather than individually. Their competitions consist of dance, tumbling and team building skills, as well as a streaming routine which combines synchronized tumbling passes, vaulting, and mini trampoline skills. This year's theme was “Gymnasts by Day, Superheroes by night” and it was a big hit amongst all of the participants.
Competitors came from all over New Jersey, as well as Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. All of the gymnasts got into the superhero spirit by wearing super capes and masks during their march in and team introductions as well as the awards ceremony where they received superhero themed medals and team banners. Westys Level 2 and Level 3 teams competed and both teams put up great scores.
Westy's Level 3 team scored a 15.6083 earning them third place in their division and our Level 2 team scored a 14.450 earning them first place in their division. This was such a fun event for all who attended and such a great way to end the competition season.
