Richard I. Olsen, age 43, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Newton Medical Center. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Richie has lived in Sussex County since 1977. He was a member and participant of SCARC services and had lived in a SCARC Group Home. Richie is survived by his parents, Richard E. and Marilyn Olsen of Vernon; his two sisters, Keri Olsen and her fiance David Dickman of Jersey City and Mary Olsen of Vernon; his four aunts, Donna Wirths of Ringwood, Michaeliene Drexler of Hackettstown, Denise Mastroberardino of Nesconset, Long Island, New York, and Jean Evans of Montana. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Avenue, Sussex, NJ 07461. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday prior to the Mass from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the church. Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family.
