WANTAGE — Junior Zookeeper Day at Space Farms Zoo will be on Saturday July 22.
The Junior Zookeeper Day program has delighted children for the past two decades. This year’s featured animals will be the rascally raccoon, the elusive indigenous grey fox, and the underrated, most hated whistle pig, Junior Zookeeper’s will learn the principles of zookeeping, and participate in fun physical challenges related to zoo keeping.
"I’m always glad to see the wonder filled look on the kid’s faces,” says Lori Space Day, third-generation zoologist. “Everyone wants to be a zookeeper, it is hard work, but very rewarding and fun!”
The Junior Zookeeper Day program starts at noon, continues to 3 p.m. and is geared for children 5 to 15 years old. Space Day will shepherd the children to animal study stations. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Every participating child will receive a Junior Zookeeper Certificate at the end of the day.
Space Farms Zoo and Museum is located at 218 Route 519 in Sussex, N.J. and is open daily from May 1 to Oct. 31. Admission prices are $18 per adult, $14.50 per child and $16.50 per seniors.
