Marie A. Kohl

NEWTON — Marie A. Kohl, 99, passed away on Thursday July 13, 2017, in Newton, N.J. Marie was born on Feb. 15, 1918, in New York City, N.Y., to the late Hermann and Pauline (nee Karner) Kohl. Marie was a longtime resident of River Edge and the last two years in Newton.
Marie was a secretary for Warwick Advertising Co., in New York City, N.Y., for many years before retiring. Marie was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manhattan since she was 2 years old. She was a member of the Friends of the Library in River Edge, traveled throughout the world and had many friends and knew several different languages.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Herman Kohl, Pauline Kohl Youngman, her step-father Oscar Youngman, her brother, Ernest Kohl and her sister, Gertrude Hodges.
Marie is survived by her sister-in-law, Annamarie Kohl of Newton, her niece, Karen Benning and her husband Matthew of Highland Lakes, a nephew Robert Kohl and his wife June of Leesburg, Va., and her five grandnephews.
