Local dancers place well at competition

CAPE MAY COURT — Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended On Stage America Nationals in Cape May Court.
The troupe brought back 11 Diamonds (3 points from a perfect score), 54 High Platinums and 11 Platinums.
A few highlights from the week include studio excellence in ballet.
Kyleigh Doyle of Vernon won Petite Miss On Stage America for her lyrical solo “Take to the Sky”. Junior soloist Makayla Snyder of Franklin won Junior Miss On Stage America for her jazz solo “Shake the Room”. Soloist Reese Decker, of Hamburg, won Teen Mr. On Stage America with his jazz/acro solo “Love Runs”. Ava Berner of Hardyston won 1st overall in the junior division for her jazz solo “Glam”.
In the teen division, Sydney Hill of Wantage won 3rd overall for her musical theatre “Evil Like Me” and was chosen “Broadway Bound” for the 13 and older division. Soloist Mackenzie Skounakis of Vernon won 5th overall for her lyrical solo “Find Me” in the senior division. Lyrical duo Cynthia Huhn and Mackenzie Skounakis performed “Never Alone” and won 3rd overall in the senior division.
The following group dances placed in the overalls: Intermediate petite jazz small group “Crusin” won 4th overall. Intermediate petite ballet small group “Music Box” won 5th overall. Intermediate junior jazz small group “Girls Just Wanna won 5th overall - Intermediate junior ballet large group “Spring Time Waltz” won 2nd overall. Intermediate junior hip hop large group “Celebrate” won 3rd overall. Advance junior jazz small group “Albatroz” won 3rd place in the “Challenge of Champions”. Advance junior tap large group “Takin’ Care of Business” won 2nd overall. Advance teen musical theatre large group “Rockin the Boat” won 4th overall, and Most Entertaining for the 13 and over Division. Advance teen hip hop large group “The Illest” won 5th overall. Advance teen musical theatre production “West Side Story” won 5th overall. Advance senior lyrical small group “The Support Group” won 4th overall. Advance senior musical theatre group “Spell Block Tango” won 3rd overall. Advance senior tap large group “Seven Nation Army” won 4th overall.
The troupe is under direction of Peggy Ziegler, Renee Ziegler-Schmidt, Doreen Ziegler, Bonnie Sybesma, and Brianna O’Loughlin.
