Dog wash fundraiser a success

VERNON — D.O.G.S. of Vernon held its annual Dog Wash fundraiser on Sunday, July 23, to benefit the Vernon Dog Park. The event was a great success with local dog owners, children, and vet service providers taking part in the fun. Over 50 local dogs got their coats washed and their nails clipped. Several dog owners took advantage of the low-cost microchipping that was available as well. As with all Vernon Dog Park fundraisers, there were locally crafted gifts and treats on sale for dogs and dog lovers. The organizers would like to thank everyone in the community for their support, including Vernon Veterinary Care and Advanced Veterinary Services for donating their time and supplies. Upcoming fundraisers can be found on their website at dogsofvernon.org.
All proceeds benefit the Vernon Dog Park, an off-leash park that provides local dogs with the exercise, socialization, and mental stimulation they need to be happy and healthy companions. Run by local nonprofit D.O.G.S. of Vernon, the park costs about $700/month to maintain and depends completely on the donations and generosity of patrons, citizens, and local vendors to maintain the park facilities.
