Freisinger, Gebhardt run for Rowan

    Edward Freisinger and Ryan Gebhardt, both graduates of Wallkill Valley High School were members of the Rowan University (Glassboro, NJ) men’s track and field program this past season. Freisinger, a junior distance runner won the 10,000 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championships. He was First Team All-NJAC and earned NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mention accolades.
    Gebhardt, a sophomore, competed in throwing events for Rowan. Gebhardt won the javelin throw at the NJAC Championships as well as the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational (held in Baltimore, Maryland) and the Oscar Moore Invitational (held in Glassboro). He made First Team All-NJAC and also earned NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mention. Both Freisinger and Gebhardt are Rowan Scholar-Athlete’s.
    As a team, the Profs hosted and placed first in the NJAC Championships with 323 points, over 200 points ahead of second place Ramapo College. Rowan finished in a tie for seventh place at the NCAA Division III Championships held in Geneva, Ohio.
    Jenna Harper (Vernon High School) was on the Alvernia University (Reading, Pennsylvania) women’s lacrosse team this spring. Harper, a senior midfielder listed as an occupational therapy major played in 11 games and started in nine of them for Alvernia. She scored two goals this past season.
    Alvernia had an overall record of 7-9 and they were 6-3 on their home field. They posted three wins in the Commonwealth Conference.
    Jacqueline Luthcke (Vernon High School) was a senior on the roster of the Arcadia University (Glenside, Pa.) women’s golf team. Luthcke is listed as a global public health major.
    The Knights placed eighth at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship held in Hershey, Pa. Luthcke was named to the MAC Honor Roll.
    Danielle Ward, a graduate of Vernon High School was on the Bloomsburg University (Pa.) women’s lacrosee team as a freshman midfielder this past season. Ward played in all 16 games and started in two of them for Bloomsburg. She recorded four goals this spring.
    The Huskies posted an overall record of 9-7 and they were 6-2 at home. In the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) they had a mark of 6-6.
    Dave Blank (Vernon High School) was a sophomore listed as a computer science major for the DeSales University (Center Valley, Pa.) men’s golf team. Blank had a low round of 82 this past season. The Bulldogs finished in a tie for fifth place at the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championships.
