| 18 Aug 2017 | 10:48

The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library invite amateur bakers ages 10 through adult to participate in their second annual cupcake contest. Enjoy a fun and delicious afternoon and join in a friendly competition for those with a talent for baking and decorating. The program will take place in the Sussex-Wantage Library Community Room on Saturday, Sept. 9. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and judging will begin at 1:45 p.m. The contest will be limited to 30 participants. Register online beginning Saturday, Aug. 26, at www.sussexcountylibrary.org, or call the library at 973-875-3940 and ask to be registered.
This year’s contest will have a special theme of books and literature. Participants should create a display of cupcakes relating either to a specific novel or series or to the broader topic of books in general. Participants will be judged in two age categories: ages 10-13; and ages 14 and up. Each participant must make a display of 12 cupcakes, artfully arranged. All 12 cupcakes should be made using a single cake batter recipe, but may be decorated differently. Judging will be based on taste, presentation and creativity. First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded. Beginning Aug. 26, ules will be available at the Sussex-Wantage Library and on the Friends’ website, friendsofswlibrary.org.
