William van Tassel, Sr.

William Van Tassel Sr., 85, passed away at his residence on Saturday August 19, 2017. William was born on June 20, 1932 in Franklin to the late Miles Samuel and Bertha (nee Finnigan) Van Tassel. William has been a resident of Wantage for 30 years.
William worked in the zinc mines prior to becoming a groundskeeper for the Kittatinny Board of Education for 30 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Sparta Elks Lodge, and loved working on his fish pond and enjoyed being around his family.
William was predeceased by his wife, Marie (nee Faber) Van Tassel in January 2017.
William is survived by his children, Donna Ross of Sandyston Twp., William Van Tassel Jr. of Wantage and Karen Lawrence of Pike County, PA and is survived by his seven grandchildren and his 12 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday August 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, N.J. Family will gather at funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. for services, Cremation will be private.
