Drinking water is at risk for 117 million Americans

American drinking water is under attack. Mega corporations and the pesticide industry have been pressuring the Environmental Protection Agency to roll back important drinking water protections for years and under the Scott Pruitt led-EPA, these polluters may just get their way.
The EPA is considering gutting the Clean Water Rule, which protects the small streams that 117 million Americans rely on in part for their drinking water. Gutting this rule could give polluters free rein to dump chemicals in the streams that millions of Americans depend on for drinking water. We can’t let Scott Pruitt and his polluting pals get away with this.
The good news is we have a chance to make our voices heard. The EPA is accepting public comments on its proposal to roll back the Clean Water Rule until Aug. 28. We need to flood the agency with comments now to protect these vital safeguards!
During the campaign, President Trump promised “absolutely crystal clear and clean drinking water” for all Americans. But this proposal would do the exact opposite. EWG’s new Tap Water Database identifies over 250 contaminants in tap water across the country, including lead, arsenic and chromium-6. We need more drinking water protections, not fewer.
Scott Pruitt’s EPA has already cancelled a scheduled ban on the hazardous pesticide chlorpyrifos, making it clear that the agency is in the pocket of big polluters. These mega corporations — like Monsanto and Dow Chemical — may have deep pockets, but we know our grassroots movement can beat them. It’s going to take every single one of us to force Pruitt to do the right thing and protect our drinking water.
