    Russell Tomecko, age 89, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Home in Fredon. Born in Passaic to the late Joseph and Olga Tomecsko, Russell lived in Mine Hill before moving to Sussex County in 2009. He had served in the United States Army during World War II. He had been employed as a Quality Control Inspector for the Mennen Company that was located in Morristown and retired at the age of 62. Russell also enjoyed airplanes and was an airplane mechanic. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Bonnie Mayhew and her husband Jeffrey of Wantage; his son, Russell Tomecko; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee Mayhew, Courtney Nardone, and Carolyn Tomecko; one great grandson, Dayton Nardone; and his loving granddog, Angel.
    Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Inurnment will follow at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sparta. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Russell's memory to an animal shelter of one's choice.
