VERNON — Nautical dioramas and miniatures were created by 24-year Vernon Township resident Chris Wyman of Barry Lakes.
Although a fourth generation member of the Wyman Family in Englewood, Bergen County, Wyman is descended from Lt. John Wyman of Woburn, Mass., who arrived in America in 1636. The Wyman family still owns the 1666 Francis Wyman house in Burlington, Mass.
On his maternal side, Wyman also is descended from John Fairfield of Wenham, Mass. who also arrived in America in the 1630s, with Chris’ side of the family moving to Rockland, Maine.
Growing up, his family always vacationed in Maine and his parents were long-time collectors of lobster traps and buoys and related memorabilia. This helped to shape Wyman’s interest in all things nautical.
Chris, his father Robert, and his only brother Guy each served in the United States Navy.
