    Barbara A. Karre (nee Kantor), age 79, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at Buena Vista Rehabilitation Center, Colville, Wash. She was born in North Tonawanda, N.Y., to the late Peter and Elizabeth Kantor. Barbara lived in Oak Ridge, N.J., for 17 years before moving to Sussex County, where she lived for the past 32 years. She was a parishioner at St. Monica’s RC Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Leisure Group, and a volunteer at Helping Hands. She worked as an educator in the Jefferson Township Public School System for 30+ years before her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society (Sussex County) and the New Jersey Retirees’ Education Association. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, David H. Karre Sr.; her parents, Elizabeth and Peter Kantor; her nephew, Stephen Holesko; her great niece, Brandi Fortner; and her sisters, Kathleen Oldani and Jean Kantor. Barbara is survived by her loving daughters, Kathleen Saiano and her husband Franco and Karen Hagman and her husband, William; her loving son, David H. Karre Jr. And his wife Lisa; her cherished granddaughter, Courtney Karre; her beloved sister, Joan Holesko and her husband Stephen; her nephew, Patrick Holesko; and her niece, Claudine Fortner and her husband Mike. Barbara was loved by all who knew her and will forever be missed. There will be a receiving line to pay your respects to the family of Barbara A. Karre on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at St. Monica’s RC Church, Sussex, NJ from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy. Burial services will be private and will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, North Tonawanda, N.Y., at a later date.
