NJ Civic Ballet to hold Nutcracker auditions

    HACKETTSTOWN — The New Jersey Civic Ballet is auditioning for dancers ages 5-30 for their holiday classic, The Nutcracker at the Sitnik Theatre in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Auditions will take place Saturday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. Auditions will be held at the studios of the North Jersey School of Dance Arts, 400 D Valentine Street, Hackettstown, NJ. Dancers age 5 and 6 years old do not need previous dance experience to audition.
    Dancers ages 7 and older should bring a 4x6 full body photography, and a $30 audition fee. Eligible dancers ages 7 and older include young people who are currently enrolled in regular dance classes and those who have had a minimum of two years of training. All auditioning dancers must be between 5 and 25 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2017. Parts available include Party Girls, Party Boys, Mice, Soldiers, Dolls, Mother Goose, and Snow Tree Angels.
    The New Jersey Civic Ballet’s Nutcracker incorporates a cast of 60 non-professional and professional dancers. Professionals should bring a full length photo and a resume with salary requirements.
    Females auditioning wear pink tights, a solid color leotard, ballet slippers and pointe shoes if appropriate. Males should wear a white t-shirt, black jazz pants or black tights and ballet slippers.
    This unique Nutcracker has delighted audiences for 15 years. Performances are Dec. 15, 16 and 17 at the Sitnik Theatre in Hackettstown. Rehearsals are scheduled for Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons through October, November and part of December.
