Robert Stephen Hodosko

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday. Sept. 23, in St. Francis de Sales Church for Mr. Robert Stephen “Steve” Hodosko, who died, Sept. 6. He was 74.
Born in Lima, Ohio, Mr. Hodosko served in the U.S. Navy, where as a Navy Seal he was a member of the recovery team for Gemini 7 and Apollo 1. After completing his military service, he began his college studies at Ohio State University. He would later meet his wife of 49 years, Georgianna (nee Herk), in the Poconos while working there on summer break and they married in 1968. He completed his bachelor of science degree in biology at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and then embarked on a long career in medical and orthopedic sales. He earned an MBA from Rutgers in 1974.
In 2001, he began serving as the advertising sales representative at The Beacon after having served at The Advocate of the Archdiocese of Newark in sales for a year. He retired in 2014. According to his family, “What he loved most was his family. He demonstrated selfless acts daily and was truly amazing. He also loved sports and was a huge Ohio State fan.”
He was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis deSales and served there as an usher for many years. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with Gen. Judson Kilpatrick Council, Vernon, which he served as grand knight from 1989 to 91.
In addition to his wife, Georgianna, he is survived by his daughter, Karli Corbo, and her husband. Tony; his son, Matthew Hodosko and his wife, Shannon; and six grandchildren: Samantha, Anthony, Jessica, and Kameron Corbo and Riley and Jordan Hodosko.
