People who receive Medicare and have diabetes—or their families or caregivers—may attend free workshops in diabetes management for no charge.
The series of six once-weekly sessions will cover subjects such as healthy eating, exercising at any level, medication management, dealing with stress and depression, preventing complications and communicating effectively with health care providers.
Sessions are two-and-a-half hours long and will be offered in Hamburg and Wantage.
In Hamburg, workshops will be in the Municipal Meeting Room, 16 Wallkill Ave. , from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20.
The workshops will also be offered the Sussex-Wantage Branch Library, 69 Route 639 in Wantage, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays from Oct. 23 to Nov. 27.
The workshops are part of the Everyone With Diabetes Counts program, and initiative of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. As part of that program,
Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network, supported locally by Healthcare Quality Strategies has an ongoing partnership with Premier Health Associates to offer these workshops.
