Vernon honors outstanding athletes

VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athletics Department honored its outstanding athletes for Week 4 of the fall 2017 season.
Junior forward Maddie Labance had two goals and an assist in Vernon’s 3-0 win over Wallkill Valley last week under the lights during Vernon Girls Soccer Youth Night. She also hit the crossbar twice in the victory.
According to Coach Carlson, Maddie is a veteran player who is looked upon to provide scoring. She is an unselfish player that has the ability to make players around her better.
Junior volleyball player Bridget Fraser had 47 digs, 6 assists, 1 kill and 2 service aces during last week’s play.
According to Coach Sorensen, Bridget has anchored the team’s defense as she has stepped into the new role as the team’s libero (passer). A great deal of the team’s success has been attributed to her high level of play.
