Re-elect Jean Murphy

Vernon voters expect an elected mayor or council members to act in the best interest of the community. We have seen our first elected "strong mayor", Victor Marotta, act In his own best interest by trying to make politics pay. In spite of public opposition and ultimate rejection of his requested payroll increases, councilmembers Pat Rizzuto and Dick Wetzel voted to approve all three of his requests. They totally ignored the public.
At several public functions, I heard Rizzuto refer to Marotta as his "brother". Today, all three: Marotta, Rizzuto and Wetzel, are running for election to the town council.
Rizzuto and Wetzel have played "follow the leader" during their entire terms as council members. They followed Marotta without question or hesitation until his term ended on Dec. 31, 2016 In year 2017, they followed their new favorite, Sally Rinker, a previous Council member/mayor who was disgraced by an email scandal with Land Use Board member Jessica Paladini. Rinker was defeated in the 2011 mayoral race and the 2013 council member race.
As history tends to repeat itself, Rinker is once again involved In an email controversy but this time with Council member Rizzuto. After he claimed to be the author of Resolution 17-185, Rizzuto admitted in writing, to Council President Jean Murphy, that Rinker wrote the resolution he submitted for a council vote at the Sept. 25, 2017, council meeting. The Township Attorney determined that the resolution was illegal. It interfered with the power and duties of the mayor.
Vernon, haven't we had enough of the political nonsense?
Let's work together to eliminate personal political agendas. Make Vernon the best it can be.
On Nov. 7, 2017, it's time to re-elect the only candidate who exercises common sense and is working "For the People". Jean Murphy has "stood up" to these political bullies. She does her own research and is not afraid to ask questions. She currently serves as Council President and presides over all Council meetings in a professional manner.
