Vernon girls soccer donates to hurricane victims

Hurricane Harvey destroyed so much in its path including schools and their supplies.
Numerous Texan schools needed to relocate and start from scratch in make-shift rooms with nothing in them. Madeline Labance thought that her soccer team at Vernon Township High School could help.
She inquired about possibly adopting one of these classrooms with her teammates to support students and teachers in need. Coach Carlson thought this was a great idea and supported the service effort. The Vernon girls' soccer team was selected and assigned to a classroom of eleventh and twelfth graders at Sheldon Early College High School. This school had over two feet of water in it and they lost everything from technology to novels and textbooks. They were unable to return to school for weeks.
The team rallied together and sent almost $500 worth of supplies to their adopted classroom.
The soccer team is hoping that their small contribution will help lessen the burden of Hurricane Harvey and let the students in Texas know that Vernon Township High School is thinking of them.
