NEWTON — Newton High School defeated Vernon Township High School in boys varsity soccer on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2-0, in the second round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament
Richie Reczka and Tommy Hermann scored a goal for eighth seed Newton. Christian Calderaro and Josh Faller each contributed an assist for Newton (6-3-2).
Vernon fell to 5-8-1.
