    Oct. 6Michael Heresi, 25, of Hopatcong was sentenced to 30 days of home detention and three years of probation.  He was ordered to write a 250 word letter of apology to the victim, surrender his computer at issue in this matter, secure and maintain employment, attend AA/NA meetings four times per week, submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, obtain his GED and pay fines and fees totaling $305.
    He pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime, and cyber harassment, a fourth-degree crime. 
    On Aug. 2, 2016, the defendant was stopped in Hopatcong for a motor vehicle violation and was in possession of heroin. He also posted an indecent photo of a victim to an online social networking site on April 14.
    Laurie Banta, 44, of Hewitt, was sentenced to five y ears of probation with jail credit for time served. She was ordered to submit a DNA sample at her own expense and pay restitution of $14,850 and fines and fees totaling $155.  
    She pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2017 to Theft, a third-degree crime. 
    She took jewelry from a Fredon Township home in November 2012.
    James Muller, 27, of Hampton was sentenced to five years of probation. He was ordered to attend AA/NA meetings twice per week, submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, seek and maintain employment, submit a DNA sample at his own expense and pay fines and fees totaling $1,199. His license was ordered suspended for one year. 
    He pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a third-degree crime, and criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest, all fourth-degree crimes, and driving under the influence, a motor vehicle offense. 
    The defendant took a Hampton Township resident’s car without permission and drove while intoxicated on Jan. 16, and he entered a Hampton Township home on Jan. 18, and caused damage in excess of $500. He also fled from a Newton Police Officer on April 15.
    Oct. 10Robert Oglesby, 31, of Newton pleaded ugilty to one count of driving with a suspended license, a fourth-degree offense.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2018.
    Thomas Sperduto, 28, of Newton pleaded guilty to Assault by Auto, a crime of the third degree, as well as the motor vehicle summons of Driving While Intoxicated.
    Sentencing is presently scheduled for Dec. 15.
    The defendant admitted that he was driving while intoxicated when his vehicle was involved in a rollover accident resulting in injuries to his passenger.
    Thomas Costanzo, 29, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime. 
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for Nov. 17, 2017.
    On June 13, 2015, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Sparta Township.  In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of 17 bags of heroin.
    The case was investigated by Patrolman F. Schomp of the Sparta Township Police Department.  
    Mark Garrera, 26, of Franklin pleaded guilty to unlawful taking by means of conveyance, a crime of the fourth degree. He also pleaded guilty to failure to turn over CDS.
    Sentencing is presently scheduled for Dec. 1, 2017.
    The defendant admitted that he, along with a co-defendant, obtained a vehicle without the consent of the owner. The pair was later found by Franklin Police Department in possession of the vehicle as well as Suboxone.
    Harold Hosking, III, 39, of Branchville pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault, a disorderly persons offense and one count of resisting arrest, a disorderly persons offense.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 1.
    Charles Harms, 54, of Newton pleaded guilty to driving with a suspensed license for a second or subsequent DWI, a crime of the fourth degree. He also pleaded guilty to violating his current probatoin.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 15.
    The defendant admitted that he was driving with a suspended license for a second or subsequent DWI when stopped by Andover Township Police for a motor vehicle violation.
