VERNON — Just in time for Halloween and on display at the Dorothy E. Henry Library through November is a collection of animal skulls and shells and similar objects, which are part of the collection of Vernon Township resident Chris Wyman of Barry Lakes.
Although some were recently acquired, some objects in the exhibit date back to the mid-1960s.
The skulls in the exhibition include a large snapping turtle, domestic goat, black bear, whitetail deer, eastern and western beaver, among others. There are also numerous birds’ nests and feathers as well as insects and the skin of a poisonous copperhead snake. Unique local rocks and fossils are also on display.
The exhibition is in the main display case near the front of the building and was arranged by The Friends of the Library at the Dorothy E. Henry Branch Library, which is part of the Sussex County Library System (sussexcountylibrary.org). The library is located at 66 Route 94 in the McAfee section of Vernon.
