    Nov. 13Stephen Carpenter, 26, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty to one count of failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance, a disorderly persons offense.
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for Jan. 12, 2018.
    Joseph Mauriello, 30, of Elmwood Park, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft, both crimes of the third degree. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 18, 2018.
    The defendant admitted breaking into a Sparta residence taking many items of jewelry and then selling some of them at a pawn shop in Clifton.
    Nov. 17David Haurey, 52, of Ogdensburg was sentenced to four years of probation on condition that he continue treatment, complete 100 hours community service, pay $2,374.20 restitution to the victim and $410 in court fines and fees.
    He pleaded guilty on Sept. 25, to forgery and identity theft, both crimes of the third degree and fourth-degree unlawful use of a credit card.
    Earlier this year the defendant used checks belonging to the victim to make personal purchases and pay bills. He also used the victim’s credit card to make multiple purchases for himself and used the victims identifying information to obtain benefits of his own. All of the crimes were committed without the Sparta Township victim’s consent or knowledge.
