It was the perfect match, big kids on the stage and little kids in the audience and smiles all around. Students from Cedar Mountain Primary School in Vernon literally took a “field trip” through the field to their sister school Glen Meadow Middle School to enjoy a holiday concert performed by Glen Meadow students on Friday Dec. 8.
Student members of the orchestra, band and choir played and sang for the Christmas- excited primary graders.
First on stage were the Glen Meadow Orchestra, complete with string and percussion instruments. They entertained the audience with “I Have a Little Dreidel” and “ Rockin’ Ole St. Nick” as the Cedar Mountain students clapped along. Next on the performance stage was the Glen Meadow Band with brass, wind and percussion presenting a score of “Let it Snow” Winter Wonderland” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The band also played “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which seemed to be a show stopper, as every Cedar Mountain student cheered and sang along. The walls of the Glen Meadow gym reverberated with happy, thunderous voices. Lastly, the Glen Meadow Choir thrilled the audience with their beautiful voices and also encouraged the audience to join in. One of their songs was the lively “Hey Ho Nobody Home.”
Children returned happily to their schools and classes after the morning concert.
