Ernest Doerner, 89, passed away on Wednesday Dec. 13, 2018. Ernest was born on Oct. 10, 1928, in West New York, N.J. to the late Ernest and Isabel (nee Britkwedel) Doerner. Ernest was a resident of Bloomingdale, NJ for 33 years before moving to Vernon in 1992.
Ernest served in the United States Army from 1946-1950. He was a produce manager for A&P for 42 years retiring in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and garden, and going on vacation to Las Vegas and on cruises. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Ernest was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (nee Weder) Doerner in 2002 and his daughter, Stephanie Walilko in 2014.
Ernest is survived by his two daughters; Debbie Woodin and her husband Kenneth of Hackettstown and Lori Zuckerman and her husband Scott of Pequannock and his grandchildren, Kaille Grey and Klaire Woodin and Rachel and Kate Zuckerman, and his son-in-law, Joseph Walilko.
Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday December 17th from 2-6 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral home 241 Rt.94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Court). Funeral services at funeral home on December 18th, Monday at 10 AM interment Glenwood Cemetery.
