Elizabeth Keith was awarded one of the largest art honor scholarships from Monserrat College of Art, $40,000, at the Wallkill High School National Art Honor Society Invitational Art Show.
Chosen from among hundreds of North Jersey art students, Lizzy is in Ms. Lisa Hirkaler's Advanced Sculpture class at Vernon Township High School. The design and creation of the broken, but healing, heart lying on a surgical table, took place over several months, with deep contemplation about her expression. She met with her former AP Biology teacher, Mrs. Stella Foco, to obtain the proper tools and advice on surgery.
She also met with the CST construction teacher, Mr. Michael De Vore, to seek guidance on the support pedestal. Lizzy is a member of the National Art Honor Society and the National Honor Society.
“Thank you, Monserrat College of Art, for the recognition of her artistic academic excellence,” said Mrs. Hirkaler.
