Mountain Creek's 52nd ski season begins

| 18 Dec 2017 | 02:09

It was a big day at the Mountain Creek Resort as the Resort opened for the 2017-18 ski season on Friday, Dec. 15, a full 21 days earlier than last year with skiing and riding top-to-bottom on 13 trails with 3 lifts spinning.
Season pass holders were given the courtesy of skiing first tracks at Vernon Peak from 9 am-12 pm. At 12 noon both Vernon Peak and South Peak opened to everybody.
Members of Mountain Creek’s management and staff were on hand to greet local die hard skiers and celebrate the beginning of the winter season. The regulars appreciated the courtesy and made the best of skiing well-groomed corduroy before having to compete with the general public at noon.
With great snow provided by Mother Nature and the cold weather the Resort’s staff has been working overtime to get an early start on the season. The Lift Operations personnel under the leadership of “Mr. Pete” checked to make sure the lifts were safe and ready to spin. Snow Makers, directed by “Big Al” have worked through many cold nights to lay down wide trails of beautiful white snow to be enjoyed by skiers and riders.
Before the mountain could open for the day, Mountain Creek’s outstanding Ski Patrol and Mountain Rangers check every trail to ensure that they are safe, and during the day skis with the visitors to make sure that skiers and riders abide by the safety rules to ensure everyone has fun and avoids injury.
Mountain Creek will be open to visitors for skiing and riding on a daily basis following the regular schedule of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an early opening at 8 a.m. on the weekends for season pass holders.
Season passes and Triple Play passes can be purchased at the Resort and savings can be gained by shopping online for lift tickets. More information about the ski pass purchase options and the wide range of ski and snowboard instruction programs and fun events available at Mountain Creek can be obtained by visiting the Resort’s web site at www.mountaincreek.com.
