The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. announced its athletes of the week for Week 1 of the winter 2017-18 season.

Junior Makenzie Thompson won the 500 Freestyle and took second place in the 100 Backstroke in the Girls most recent swim meet against Kittatinny.

According to Coach Baldwin, Makenzie is a natural leader in and out of the pool. She pushes herself in every practice and can always be found encouraging all of her teammates.

Senior Patrick Graham has picked up from where left off last year leading the varsity ice hockey team in scoring. Patrick scored both goals in the Vikings 2-0 win over Sparta/Jefferson this past Saturday Night at Skylands Ice world.

According to Coach Zimmerman, Patrick has a tremendous work ethic and leads by example.
