Assembly approves licensing bill

State professional boards will process license applications and renewals online under a bill approved by the Assembly.
The bill, modernizing the filing and processing of applications for professional licenses, is sponsored by Assemblywomen BettyLou DeCroce, Gail Phoebus and Assemblyman Parker Space.
“Some state boards are dragging their feet when it comes to technology,” said Space (R—Sussex, Warren, Morris). “People can log onto their computers to file their state and federal income tax returns and conduct motor vehicle transactions. There’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to renew their professional certification the same way.”
