VERNON — After a 13-day hot water issue at Legends, the situation was resolved on Wednesday, Jan. 24, Vernon Township Business Administrator Charlie Voelker said on Wednesday.
Two days earlier at the Township Council meeting, Mayor Harry Shortway revealed the tenants had been without water for at lest 10 days and that he notifiedthe proper agencies.
Shortway said the Dept. of Community Affairs inspector visited Legends and issued an Imminent Hazard Order, which gave the proprietor 48 hours to "cure" the situation. There was still no hot water Monday after the owner contested the hazarard order, which would have put the matter up for a hearing.
However, Shortway revealed on his Facebook page on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. that hot water had been restored.
There also was an issue of a bat in the boiler room at Legends. Voelker said the DCA inspector inspected the premises and found that bats were not a problem. He also met with county Health Dept. Director James McDonald last week and he obtained a referral from a foundation that does bat removal in the event the service is needed in the future.
Shortway said the bat has tested negative for rabies.
