Pope John defeats Hunterdon on hardwood

— Pope John XXIII Regional High School, locarted in Sparta with students from around the county, defeated Hunterdon Central Regional High School (Hunterdon County, N.J.) in boys varsity basketball on Saturday, February 17, 2018. The final score was 58-53. The semifinal of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament was played at Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington Township, New Jersey.
Aaron Clarke scored 29 points and made four assists to lead eighth-seeded Pope John. Eddie Davis added 20 points and five assists, Marcus Hopkins grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots and Diandre South scored six points and grabbed six rebounds.
David Johansson scored 16 points, Sam Johnson scored 13 points and Sean Oberman scored 11 points for fifth-seeded Hunterdon Central.
Pope John will play sixth-seeded North Hunterdon High School in the final on Friday, February 23, 2018 in Sparta Township.
Team records: Hunterdon Central Red Devils 14-10. Pope John Lions 14-10.
