New Jersey Blood Services will host four blood drives in Sussex County during March.
The following drives in the county are as follows:
Saturday, March 17: Saint Kateri Parish, 427 Stanhope Road, Sparta 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Thursday, March 22: Glen Meadow Middle School, 7 Sammis Road, Vernon 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 23: Wallkill Valley High School, 10 Grumm Road, Hamburg 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 27: Sussex County Community College Bldg D, Student Ctr, 1 College Hill Rd, Newton 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Hundreds of additional blood drives need to be scheduled to meet projected hospital demand. Current inventory of several blood types is running below the desired target level.
“It’s simple: hospital patient demand for blood often outpaces our best efforts to recruit donors and schedule blood drives,” said NYBC Executive Director of Donor Recruitment Andrea Cefarelli. “There are always reasons but we have to overcome that for the sake of hospital patients who need us.”
