Pope John student earns piano scholarship

Olivia Coyle, a senior at Pope John the XXIII High School in Sparta will be a recepient of a piano scholarship from the New Jersey Piano Teachers Association.
The gala performance will take place April 14, at 1 p.m. at the Reformed Baptist Church in Lafayette, 28 Meadows Rd.
Olivia has been studying piano since she is 4 and a half years old with Mrs. Margaret Korczynski of McAfee, the co-owner of the Sussex County Music Workshop. In the past 9 years she has played in the National Guild Auditions sponsored by the American College of Musicians and in a Chopin Piano Audition, She has also performed at the Festival of Young Performers in Ridgewood NJ, and for numerous recitals organized by NJPTA, and Mini Solo Recitals with the Sussex County Music Workshop. Olivia provided music for two Project Self Sufficiency events.
She produced a Classical CD and the proceeds will be donated to Project Self Sufficiency in Newton. Olivia Coyle and her teacher Margaret Korczynski share a great love for the Polish Romantic composer, Fredrick Chopin, whose brilliant Valse Op 64 No1, and Nocturne in Eb will be performed this April. She hopes to pursue music in college as a minor.There will be other advanced students of local teachers performing at this recital. Refreshments will be served. This event is open to the public.
