VERNON — Bumblesong is Vernon’s local, licensed Music Together provider, holding classes at the Vernon Valley Karate Academy on Theta Dr. with a second center in Warwick, N.Y. Center director Nicole DeLoi is a bubbly personality who engages so well with the zero to five-year-olds and their parents, grandparents or caregivers. With an educational background and degree in voice and violin from the University of Nebraska, DeLoi makes sure each of the center’s 45- minute classes foster a playful, relaxed, non-performance-oriented environment offering a dozen songs and rhythmic rhymes which also includes fingerplays, small and large movement activities and instrument play necessary to help young children develop.
DeLoi began her Tuesday session with the Hello Everybody song accompanied by the ukulele, playfully acknowledging all youngsters and caregivers by name. A splishing and splashing chant was excellent because the youngsters were in DeLoi’s words “being silly” but were experiencing and learning triple meters in music. Midway through the class, the silky parachute was used to encourage motor skills and movement as well as vocabulary. An immediate hit with the music students seemed to be background music, bubbles and the Bubble song. Children and caregivers were involved in drumming and a simplified discussion on tone and vibration.
At the conclusion of class, DeLoi treated everyone to relaxing, cool down music as she played several selections on Vivian the Violin. Children were offered the violin’s bow to produce their own sounds on Vivian the Violin.
The catch phrase for Bumblesong is “music for busy, little bees. For further information, please visit: www.Bumblesong.com or contact Miss Nicole at 862-215-1392.
