Makhaila Sanchez, a student of Edward Korczynski, will receive a scholarship from the North Jersey Piano Teachers Association.
The scholarship performance will take place April 14, at 1 p.m. at the Reformed Baptist Church, 28 Meadows Road, Lafayette.
Sanchez will attend Montclair University in the fall as a Music Therapy Major. She has performed frequently at student recitals in Vernon at the Calvary Baptist Church in Warwick, N.Y., and at the Walter Engel Festival in Ridgewood, N.J.
She will perform works by Shostakovitch, Brahms, and Beethoven at the scholarship recital, and she will perform the Soanta op.13 by Beethoven at the Walter Engel Festival on April 22nd. In addition, she has devoted her time to local community service on a frequent basis.
She started piano study with Margaret Korczynski, and for the last several years has studied with Ed Korczynski of the Sussex County Music Workshop.
There will be many students of the member teachers performing at the scholarship recital. Refreshments will be served and the event is open to the public.
