Fahey wins quick submission

FREEHOLD — Fans were treated to a night of excellent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu action at Men of War 1, and local standout Brooke Fahey, 17, kept the crowd entertained in her match, scoring a quick submission victory.
Facing off against Rachael Penkowar, 19, in a six-minute match, Fahey needed less than two minutes to secure the win. After a brief feeling out period on the feet, Penkowar, who has experience as an amateur mixed martial artist, shot for a takedown. Fahey was happy for the opportunity to begin working where she is best — fighting off her back where her arsenal of dangerous arm locks come into play.
With second-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Sean Santella, her head instructor at Sparta-based Miller Brothers MMA, in her corner offering instruction, Fahey calmly locked her opponent up tightly before isolating an arm and applying an armbar hold to get the tap at 1:47.
The victory continued the gym’s run of form which began with two MMA victories by Joe Tizzano and Jim Fitzpatrick the prior weekend, and precedes a trio of fights on March 31.
