Unity Choir to perform on Palm Sunday

    The Unity Choir will present their sixth annual Palm Sunday concert on Sunday, March 25, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton.
    The program will feature Requiem by Saint-Saens as well as other musical works.
    This Requiem is not as well-known as some but is unique in its beauty. Henry Repp will direct as well as accompany on the church’s three-manual Peragallo pipe organ. The returning soprano soloist will be Cassandra Lambros who will also perform on her violin. New to the Unity Choir will be alto Emily Skilling and tenor John Burke. David Young will again be the bass soloist.
    Other works to be included are Grieve Not the Holy Spirit of God by Noble, None Other Lamb by Marshall, and Jesus, Name of Wondrous Love by Titcomb. Emily Skilling will be the alto soloist in "I Will Lift Up My Eyes" by Leo Sowerby.
    Additional pieces are Crux fidelis by Roger-Ducasse, Samuel Wesley’s Wash Me Throughly, The Music of Your Love by Joel Raney, and I Heard the Heavens Singing by Thomas Juneau. The concert is free, but there will be a free-will offering. The church has ample parking and is handicapped-accessible. A reception will follow the concert.
