After being walloped by March snowstorms for the first three weeks, there is truly a longing for spring, spring flowers, spring mornings and of course high school spring musicals.
Last year, the spring ensemble of Vernon Township High School chose Shrek and successfully sold out three out of four of their performances. Chosen this year was the highly acclaimed, highly hilarious Mel Brooks’ extravaganza Young Frankenstein.
We all know the story of the young doctor who strives to right the failure of his also doctor grandfather by successfully creating new life from the dead. Very macabre, yet insert a wacky fiancé, Igor with a shifting hump, a roll in the hay and a monster putting on the Ritz, as well as, other bizarre happenings and we can indulge in a wild and fun evening, courtesy of the student actors at VTHS.
The main cast includes Ethan Metz as Frederick Frankenstein, Frank Incarnato as the monster, Igor played by Matthew Losco, Inga played by Grace Logue, Blake Harrsch as Elizabeth, Elisabetta Bracer as Frau Blucher, Inspector Kemp played by Rhett Presti, The Hermit played by David McQuillan, Mike Tiatelpa as Victor Von Frankenstein and Ryan Spadafina as Ziggy. An ensemble of 22 rounds out the performers.
Performances are at the high school on Thursday March 22 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 23, and Saturday March 24 both at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.VTSD. com or at the door on the night of the performance.
